Industrial Designer Hakan Gürsu graduated from the Middle East Technical University, Department of Industrial Product Design, with the first rank in 1984. He has completed his master’s degree in Architecture and his Ph.D. in City and Regional Planning. He continued his career in various projects such as product design, interior design, and urbanism and took part in multiple centers, including Russia and Japan.
In 1991, he was awarded the “Pioneer of Design” award by the Japanese Industrial Design Association. The company DESIGNNOBIS / Innovation Firm, founded by him in 2006, was selected among Turkey’s Top 40 Entrepreneur Firms.
He won more than 240 design awards in 16 years and was honored in the world’s prestigious design competitions, and carried Turkey to second place in the World Design Rankings held in the EU. He has contributed to many national and international organizations as a speaker about innovation, creative thinking, design, and R&D, including TEDx, Intel, Coca-Cola, IBM, and the World Bank.
The book “Innovation,” reflecting his experiences in this field, was published in 2014.
He was honored as “Designer of the Year” by the International Designers Association in Milan.
His eco-friendly and visionary projects offer unconventional solutions to common problems from boats, toys, and furniture to consumer electronics. Gürsu continues to train design students at METU.
